Introduction: Change as the Directing of Flows It is argued in this thesis that diagrams (arrow diagrams in particular) serve as conceptual tools for both building and communicating thoughts about change. To establish this thesis, one needs first to put forward a definition of change (at least a working definition). As a point of departure in this attempt, we can consider the work of one of the first Western thinkers to offer a close conceptual analysis of change: Aristotle.
