1. This is a vocabulary of roots and stems extracted from Speck
(1934).

18. Much of the cataloguing of Speck’s texts for this vocabulary was done
during the Siouan Workshop at the University of Colorado in Boulder under the
direction of David Rood in the summer of 1984. The work has profited greatly
by the stimulating discussions with those attending the workshop, and by the
opportunity to work on it away from distractions. Note, however, that the
analysis, along with its errors, remains my own.
